EN200: Foundations of Literary Studies

This course focuses on “English” or literary studies as a discipline, some different ways to study literature, and why to do it in the first place. We’ll cover aspects of genre, canonicity,, and other heuristic categories of analysis. We’ll read novels, poems, and articles about the study of literature. We’ll also examine and practice different methods for studying literature, including interpretation, historical analysis, and computational and quantitative analysis.* Syllabus: Syllabus (PDF)
